Submission Policy

[ copyright & publishing license agreement ]

[ 1. Copyright Retention ]

You own your work. By submitting or publishing stories on The Moon Zine, you retain full 100% copyright ownership of your text. We do not claim ownership of your creative writing.

[ 2. Digital & Compilation License Grant ]

To distribute the zine, we require permissions from you. By publishing a story to The Moon Zine, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to:

  • Host, display, and format your story on our digital platform.
  • Compile your story in digital anthology issues, PDFs, or eBooks produced by The Moon.
  • Promote and distribute digital copies of the compiled zine.

Because the license is non-exclusive, you are completely free to republish your story on your own website, social media, or other anthologies and collections.

[ 3. Digital Issue Sales & Funding ]

We may sell compiled digital issues (such as PDFs or eBooks) of the zine to support website hosting, maintenance, and platform distribution. Because we operate as a free community publication, digital sales are used to fund the project. Authors are not paid royalties, but we will send a free copy of any compiled digital edition to contributors whose work is featured in that issue.

[ 4. Originality & Warranties ]

You warrant and represent that any story you submit is your own original creation, does not infringe upon any third-party copyrights or trademarks, and has not been generated by automated scraping tools violating other creators' rights.

[ 5. Deletion & Archiving ]

If you wish to remove your story from the digital index, you may do so at any time through your contributor profile dashboard, or by contacting the editorial team. Please note that once compiled digital issues are published and downloaded by readers, those distributed files cannot be modified or recalled from readers' personal devices.
